“Most valuable to me is sitting amongst other board members, talking with them and hearing their district stories, successes and challenges — and their individual views on policies and budget items that affect them both from state and local perspectives. My mentality is that WASB events are professional development for board members, and as board members encourage staff and administration to get professional development, we should as well.”

“It’s useful to gather with people from all over the state, because all districts are different. To be able to come together to help each other network, think through that and see the other side is really useful and makes for better community engagement overall. New board members should absolutely consider attending some WASB events, because it can get you up to speed in ways that your own boards might not be able to. You can see that bigger picture of what we’re trying to achieve for kids and educators throughout the state, by drawing off of all of our strengths at the same time.”
