Fall Regional Meetings will be held in every WASB region across the state this September and October, providing members with an opportunity to connect with area board members, celebrate accomplishments and hear the latest updates from the association.

Pre-Regional Meeting Workshop: Wisconsin’s Open Meetings Law — Understanding and Navigating Closed Sessions
This session provides a practical, in‑depth look at Wisconsin’s Open Meetings Law with a special emphasis on the rules, requirements and common pitfalls surrounding closed sessions.
Attendees will learn when a closed session is legally permissible under the statutory exemptions, how to properly notice and convene a closed session, and what must be discussed in open session before going behind closed doors. The session will also cover some tips for taking minutes related to closed sessions and address some of the challenges and options associated with taking official action on matters addressed in a closed session. This workshop also includes governance advice on how school boards should approach sensitive discussions and maintain confidentiality.
Whether you are a school board member, district administrator or executive assistant to the district administrator, this session will equip you with the tools to conduct closed sessions lawfully and effectively.
An online workshop will be held at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3, on Zoom. The meeting will be recorded and made available for registrants to view at their convenience.

Member Recognition Awards
At each Regional Meeting, the WASB recognized school board members who recently reached a new level in the WASB Member Recognition Program. Members earn points by attending and participating in activities and events sponsored by the WASB.
Elections (Regions 1, 3, 6, 8, 12 and 14)
Each member school board and CESA board in the above regions had one vote to elect a WASB regional director. Directors serve staggered three-year terms on the 15-person board.
Legislative Update
WASB Government Relations staff will provide updates on the latest state and federal legislative developments.
Executive Director’s Report
WASB Executive Director Dan Rossmiller will conclude each meeting with a report to members about the activities and direction of the WASB.
Registration Note: Registration for each Regional Meeting will open in July.
Online registration will be open for each Regional Meeting until 8 a.m. on the Friday preceding the week of the event. For example, for a Regional Meeting on Thursday, Oct. 16, online registration closes at 8 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10.
