The membership of the 2025-26 Joint Finance Committee is set, with leadership in both chambers and parties announcing their picks. If no unexpected changes occur, the committee will see five new members, including four Republicans. Together they will help write the state budget and wield significant power to craft policy and oversee financial appropriations of the state for the coming two years.
Below we have provided a chart to show the JFC members and which school districts they represent. Take a look and see if you have a legislator representing you on the JFC. If you do, you have a unique opportunity to form a relationship with a legislator who is responsible for helping draft the budget and your therefore your state aid. Relationships with any legislators are valuable, but JFC committee members are in a key position come budget time, making this an important advocacy opportunity.
There was an error in the initial publication of this data with some school districts being mistakenly left out of Sens. Marklein, Testin, Quinn, and Stafsholt data set. This occurred do to a programming error on the DPI interactive map of overlapping school and legislative districts. The issue has been raised to DPI, and the data has been corrected below.
