State Rep. Jeremy Thiesfeldt (R-Fond du Lac) has announced he will not seek reelection to the state Assembly. He has been a member of the Assembly Committee on Education since first being elected in 2010 and the chair since 2015. He announced he will finish his current term.

From his release:

“It is an honor to serve the citizens of the 52nd District in the WI State Assembly. Ever since the first time I was elected, I have been frequently asked how long I intended to serve. I have always publicly stated that I did not believe elected office was a long-term appointment, and it was my intention to return to the classroom some day when the time was right.”

Other lawmakers have also announced their intention not to seek reelection including state Sen. Jon Erpenbach (D-West Point) and Rep. Gary Tauchen (R-Bonduel).
