Sixteen newcomers will be among the members of the state Assembly in January.
Six new Republican representatives who will take office in January: Clint Moses, a Menomonie School Board member, replaces Sen.-elect Rob Stafsholt in the 29th Assembly District in northwestern Wisconsin; Calvin Callahan of Tomahawk takes over the Northwoods 35th Assembly District seat of now Sen.-elect Mary Felzkowski; Alex Dallman of Green Lake will represent the 41st Assembly District seat vacated by Sen.-elect Joan Ballweg; Rachael Cabral-Guevara replaces retiring 55th Assembly District Rep. Mike Rohrkaste of Neenah; Donna Rozar follows the retiring Rep. Bob Kulp in the 69th Assembly District in in central Wisconsin; and Dave Armstrong follows retiring Rep. Romaine Quinn in the 75th Assembly District in far northwestern Wisconsin.
There will also be ten new Democrats in the chamber. New Milwaukee-area Dem. Representatives include: Sylvia Ortiz-Velez, who will replace former Rep. JoCasta Zamarripa in the 8th Assembly District; Dora Drake, who will follow retiring Rep. Jason Fields in Assembly District 11; Brookfield native Sara Rodriguez, who defeated incumbent GOP Rep. Rob Hutton in the 14th Assembly District; Supreme Moore Omokunde who will replace David Crowley, who resigned from his 17th Assembly District following his election as Milwaukee County Executive; and Deb Andraca, who defeated incumbent GOP Rep. Jim Ott in the 23rd Assembly District, comprised of North Shore suburbs.
New Democratic Representatives elected elsewhere in the state include: Sue Conley, who succeeds retiring Rep. Deb Kolste, a former Janesville School Board member, in the 44th Assembly District; Samba Baldeh, a Madison alderman, who will represent the district being vacated by Sen.-elect Melissa Sargent; Lee Snodgrass of Appleton, who succeeds 57th Assembly District Rep. Amanda Stuck, who ran unsuccessfully for Congress; Francesca Hong, of Madison who will represent the 76th Assembly District seat vacated by former Rep. Chris Taylor who was appointed a Dane County Judge; and Kristina Shelton, Vice President of the Green Bay School Board, who succeeds fellow Democrat Staush Gruszynski whom she defeated in the August primary for the 90th Assembly District seat.
