Announced by Mount Horeb Area School District Superintendent Dr. Steve Salerno, seven candidates (5 Democrats and 2 Republicans) that are on the August 9th primary ballot for the 80th Assembly District have been invited to participate and answer questions regarding K-12 education.
Great job by these school districts to make this event happen! The forum is slated for Monday, July 25, 2022, from 6:00-7:30 at Mount Horeb High School’s cafeteria.
The Capitol Watch column in the June-July issue of the Wisconsin School News provides tips for school leaders on how to host a candidate forum. Remember: candidates can become the lawmakers you will need to have a relationship with after the election. If there is no incumbent or if a challenger wins, your forum will have provided you a great opportunity to begin developing a relationship of trust before the winner is elected. The 80th Assembly District has been represented by state Rep. Sondy Pope (D-Mt. Horeb) but she has announced she is not running for reelection.
