Jim started his professional career in education as a teacher and coach in 1977. He taught and coached at UW-Platteville as well as the school districts of Park Falls, Dodgeville, Wausau, and Eagan, Minnesota, where he served as assistant principal and athletic director. In 2008, Jim was hired as principal at Lakeland Union High School in Minocqua, where he later became superintendent. He retired from that position in the spring of 2019.
After returning to Wausau in 2019, Jim was elected to the Wausau School Board. He brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the board. In addition to a B.A and M.S. in Education from the UW System, he holds a Master of Arts in Education Administration from Marian University and an Ed.S. in Technology Enhanced Curricula from Argosy University in Eagan (Campus) Minnesota.
Jim is married with three adult children and three grandchildren.
