Resolutions Approved by 2019 WASB Delegate Assembly Now Online

The Final Report to the Membership on Resolutions Adopted by the 2019 WASB Delegate Assembly is now posted on the WASB website (www.wasb.org) on the Delegate Assembly page.  To find it, look under the Advocacy and Government Relations tab, then click on the Delegate Assembly link.

Thanks to all delegates and boards for your work on these resolutions.

Thanks also to the many boards that submitted resolutions and to the dedicated board members from around the state who served on the WASB Policy & Resolutions Committee that reviewed those submitted resolutions.

These newly adopted resolutions will now be placed in the 2019 edition of the WASB Resolutions Book, which will be published later this Spring, and will remain in force until amended or repealed. To find the 2018 edition of the WASB Resolutions Book click here.

2019 proposed resolutions posted to WASB website

The proposed 2019 WASB resolutions to be considered by the Delegate Assembly has been posted to the WASB website. Delegate packets are being printed and will be mailed shortly.  Additional materials will be posted in the near future.

The 2019 Delegate Assembly will be held on Wednesday, January 23 at the State Education Convention in Milwaukee.  It will begin at 1:30 p.m. in Ballroom AB on the first level of the Wisconsin Center. (more…)

WASB Policy & Resolutions Committee to hold first meeting

The 2018 Policy and Resolutions Committee will hold its first meeting Sept 28-29 in Madison.  The committee will review the resolutions submitted by WASB member school boards to begin the process of determining whether to advance those resolutions to the Delegate Assembly for consideration in January.

If approved by the Delegate Assembly, the resolutions become the official positions of the WASB.  Resolutions turned down by the committee are still afforded an opportunity to be brought to the Delegate Assembly floor under the WASB’s Bylaws.

Thank you to the school boards who submitted resolutions to the WASB

The WASB has received 32 resolutions from 17 member school boards this year.  The boards who submitted resolutions are: Baraboo, Beloit, Central-Westosha, Eau Claire Area, Florence County, Goodman-Armstrong Creek, Hartland Lakeside, Holy Hill Area, Janesville, Neenah, Niagara, Shorewood, Siren, South Milwaukee, Union Grove, Waukesha and Wauwatosa.

Final Reminder: Deadline to submit resolutions to WASB is Sept. 15

The deadline for member school boards to submit resolutions to the WASB is September 15.

Many boards find the best way to get the WASB working on their issue is to offer a board resolution stating what you think the WASB position should be and why on any relevant topic.

Please include a clear, concise rationale to explain the intent of your resolution. Then adopt your resolution and rationale and send the WASB a copy. Thank you to the boards who have already sent us resolutions this year. (more…)
