Student Performance Showcase! (NEW 2026)

A Celebration of Students in Music, Dance and Performance Arts

For years, the Wisconsin State Education Convention has proudly showcased students through music education. In 2026, we’re expanding! The Performance Showcase now welcomes a diverse range of student performers, including bands, orchestras, choirs, a Cappella groups, dance, cheer, rhythmic gymnastics and other performance groups.

This exciting expansion celebrates the full spectrum of student creativity and offers schools the opportunity to highlight their unique performing arts programs on a statewide stage.

The Wisconsin Association of School Boards, Wisconsin School Music Association and Wisconsin Association of School Business Officials co-sponsor this annual Performance Showcase for Wisconsin students in grades 9-12.

Three performance groups will be selected to perform at the State Education Convention. The audience will be comprised of 1,000-2,000 school board members, district administrators and school business officials from around the state.

Help us celebrate Wisconsin’s student performers by sharing this opportunity with your school’s music, dance, spirit coaches and other performing arts leaders and encourage them to apply.

Celebrate, Elevate and Showcase your district’s performing arts program and students by submitting an audition for this year’s showcase.

Application for Performance

One student showcase performance opens each of three general sessions at convention. Performance date, time, location and other details will be communicated following the selection process.

Submission Process

Prepare your audition recording. Submit it electronically following the directions on the Wisconsin School Music Association website.

Please fill out the form accurately as the information will be used for letters, certificates, publications, etc.

All applications and auditions must be submitted by Friday, June 20, 2025. Selection notifications will be made by September 15, 2025.

Application Guidelines

• Any group from Wisconsin public schools grade 9-12 may apply.
• Groups are limited to 60 students.
• Create an audition recording no longer than 15 minutes.
• Do not identify the name of the school on the audio recording.
• A stipend will be provided to each performance group compliments of the WASBO Foundation. Costs above this stipend are the responsibility of the sponsoring district.
• The performance at the convention will be 15 minutes in length.
