WASB Region 1 Director Election

For WASB governance purposes, the state is divided into 15 regions. Each member school board has one vote for its regional representative to the board of directors. Directors are elected for three-year terms. The board of directors is charged with the overall management of the affairs, funds and property of the association.

Bert Richard sent an email to the WASB on September 15 stating that he is withdrawing from the Region 1 election.

 

Candidates


Linda Flottum

Having been first elected to the Turtle Lake School Board in April 1994, Linda has served the district for over 27 years holding the position of Treasurer, President, and presently Clerk. Committee positions include Policy, Employee Compensation and Collaborative/Community Advisory. During referendums, she served on the Security and Curriculum Committees. For several years, Linda was Turtle Lake School Board’s CESA #11 Representative and attended CESA PAC Meetings. She has served as the delegate from Turtle Lake for the WASB Delegate Assembly. She served for three years on the WASB Policy & Resolutions Committee, and she has achieved Level 5 in the WASB Board Development Program.

Linda received her Associate of Arts Degree from UW-Barrom County; and has been a Legal Secretary, Barron County 911 Coordinator/Dispatcher/Jailer, and Office Administrator before retiring in November 2020. Linda and her husband have been married for over 42 years and have three grown sons and five grandchildren. They live in the Village of Turtle Lake where they both serve in community-based organizations.

Linda believes that by working together through education we can provide a brighter, successful future for our children, our communities, and our country.

 

Bert Richard

Bert has been a member of the Rice Lake Board of Education since 2015.

He has been a high school teacher in Superior for eight years and an Assistant Professor at UW-Stout for five years. He also is part of the Adjunct Faculty at Lakeland College.

He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing Education and a Master’s Degree in Business Education. He also holds a Specialist Degree in Career and Technical Education.

Bert is a member of the Dove Healthcare Foundation Board and Rice Lake Parks and Recreation Board. On the Rice Lake School Board he is the chairperson of the Public Relations Committee. He has attended several WASB Events. He has attended the State Education for the past five years as well as the Fall Regional Meeting.
